Annual General Meeting 2017 Recap
March 3, 2017 | News
Last week, SafeCare BC hosted its third Annual General Meeting. Over 70 members were in attendance at the landmark AGM, which saw amendments to the Association’s bylaws passed that formally incorporated the home care and support sector into SafeCare BC’s membership.
The AGM also included a report on SafeCare BC’s activities in 2016, a report on SafeCare BC’s financials, and elections for new Board Directors. Overall, 2016 was a busy year with several important achievements, which included surpassing the previous year’s record number of continuing care staff trained, as well as the Training Needs Assessment conducted of the home care and support sector.
Chair of the SafeCare BC Board, Al Jina, reviewed these achievements and the associated reductions in workplace injury rates seen across the long term care sector, while also noting that there still remained more work to be done. SafeCare BC Treasurer Sue Emmons reported that the Association remained in good financial health with a clean report from the Association’s auditors, MNP LLP. Executive Director Jennifer Lyle provided additional information on 2016’s achievements, as well as a preview of what 2017 has to offer. A full report on SafeCare BC’s 2016 activities and 2017 workplan can be found here.
