Fabien Ma - Physiotherapist | Louis Brier Home and Hospital

June 25, 2025

Even small improvements can mean greater independence and quality of life.”

Fabien Ma, a physiotherapist at Louis Brier Home and Hospital, knew early on he wanted to work in long-term care. “One of my practicums really solidified it,” he says. “You get to help residents make little improvements that mean a lot over time.”

It’s about being a part of the resident’s journeys. Sometimes that can mean helping someone walk again after a fracture, or supporting their mobility through small, daily, exercises. It’s a gradual process. “Day to day, it’s hard to see. But when you look back, you realize how far someone has come—it’s a warm, happy feeling that you’ve accomplished something.”

Collaboration is key, Fabien says. He is quick to share the credit with those he works with. “It’s easy to come to work when you have a good team.”
