In a commitment to make dementia education more accessible, SafeCare BC has partnered with the Alzheimer Society of BC to create Care and Connection on the Dementia Journey.

Care and Connection on the Dementia Journey is intended for anyone who interacts with people living with dementia. It is a collection of independent, online, self-paced modules that you can explore and take at your convenience. The course contains two modules and will be updated with new content as it becomes available.

Care and Connection on the Dementia Journey will help guide you to:

  • Understand the dementia journey
  • Accept person-centred care as the leading practice for care workers
  • Recognize that person-centred care is the safest approach to providing care
  • Relate to the experiences of a person living with dementia
  • Explain how dementia impacts communication and behaviour
  • Develop stronger relationships with families affected by dementia

This course contains a module of tips and resources for managers and leaders to implement person-centred care practices with their staff!

To introduce this new course, it is being offered at no cost for March. Regular pricing will take effect on April 1, 2024.
