Kitchen working conditions vary from those of a private household where you are the only cook to large commercial kitchens where you are preparing meals with an entire team. Either way, kitchens are full of safety hazards and it is important to understand what they are and how to avoid them.
This course is for anyone who works in a kitchen, supervises others who work in a kitchen, or supports the health and safety of kitchen workers in their organization (JOHS Committee members).
After completing this course, you will be able to recognize some common kitchen hazards and apply preventative strategies to help keep yourself and others well-fed and injury-free!
Note: This course does not cover information relating to foodborne illness, preparing, receiving and storing food, cleaning and sanitation. For training on these topics, refer to FoodSafe offered by the Province of British Columbia.
