The mental health first aid training course was developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada to provide the practical knowledge and skills to support a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being, or a mental health or substance use crisis.
Just like physical first aid is provided until medical treatment can be obtained, mental health first aid is given until appropriate support is found or until the crisis is resolved.

This is a blended delivery course consisting of two parts:
Part one: Online, self-paced (two hours)
Participants must complete the first module two weeks before attending the instructor-led session. This module will take an estimated two hours to complete. Information on how to complete this part of the course will be emailed to the participant approximately 48 hours after registration.
Part two: Virtual, instructor-led (seven hours)
Participants will complete modules two and three during their seven-hour instructor-led session (in person or virtually via Zoom).
Note: Only those participants who attend all three modules in full will be eligible for a certificate. Participants who do not complete module one before this instructor-led session, or miss more than 30 minutes of modules two and three, will not be allowed to continue. Missed modules will not be eligible for a certificate, refund, or rescheduling.
