Sarah Eveneshen is the Manager, Advocacy & Education at the Alzheimer Society of B.C., where she is responsible for leading the organization’s advocacy, public policy and education team. Sarah has held several roles at the Alzheimer Society of B.C. including direct client support, program development and project management. Sarah is a Credentialed Professional Gerontologist (CPG) and holds a Master of Arts in Gerontology, a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Certificate in Project Management.

Susan completed her BA in Recreation and Leisure Studies for Special Populations at the University of Alberta.  She subsequently worked as a recreation therapist in seniors living and long-term care environments, eventually joining the Alzheimer Society of BC as a support and education coordinator. 

In 2022, Susan joined the education team at the Society and now focuses on building and presenting educational workshops to community organizations and professionals, including healthcare workers.

Responsive behaviours are actions, words, or gestures that may appear aggressive but often reflect unmet needs, fear, or distress—such as yelling, swearing, hitting, or refusing care. In this huddle, staff review what responsive behaviours are, discuss the emotional impact of experiencing verbal abuse, and explore strategies to self-settle and seek help when needed.
