Osprey Court is a 96-bed Long Term Care home in Vernon BC. We opened the doors in February of this year. When you think of the definition of "Support" in the active verb state -"To bear all or part of the weight, to hold up" it describes what my Support Services Team does daily. This team built the foundation (meals, laundry, housekeeping) that allowed the site to take multiple admissions daily. These amazing people show up for every shift with a smile on their faces. You never hear them say "That's not my job"! They are always willing to help wherever needed and go the extra mile for the residents we serve.

My laundry aide knows every resident and what clothes belong to them. My housekeeping staff can tell me if a resident is not doing well as they chat with the residents every day while cleaning their rooms. The food service staff know what the residents like and supports care staff in the dining rooms to ensure all residents are fed and happy.

I have worked in healthcare for over 30 years and can honestly say I am so proud to lead this team. I want to show up for them, just like they show up for the residents and the staff at Osprey Court. These folks go unnoticed a lot of the time as they go quietly about their workday BUT they are essential to providing excellence in care.
