In long-term care it is increasingly apparent that who is on shift is just as important as how many staff are on shift. Quality care is difficult to achieve when we do not routinely engage with one another in a positive, or civil, manner.

Meet Sheila Fauman, our Workplace Psychological Health and Safety Coach

October 10, 2024

Sheila Fauman gets mental health and wellness. As SafeCare BC's workplace psychological health and safety coach, she recognizes the deep impact mental health and wellness can have on everyone. She believes there is so much opportunity to more effectively respond to and support the mental health of frontline workers and leaders in our sector. That 'coach' word in her title means she's ready (and excited) to share her knowledge and experience. Think of her as a psychological health and safety mentor for your organization.

Sheila's passion for and interest in mental health and wellness comes from both personal and professional experiences. She holds a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology and has over 15 years working in both the healthcare and justice system sectors (talk about high reward, high stress sectors). Her experiences have included many years working directly with service users as a probation officer and corrections programs therapist, as well as in violence prevention in the workplace, psychological health and safety, and program research and development.

Have questions about mental health and wellness? Don't know where to start in supporting psychological health in your workplace? Sheila's got you. Send her a message at sheila@safecarebc.ca
