In long-term care it is increasingly apparent that who is on shift is just as important as how many staff are on shift. Quality care is difficult to achieve when we do not routinely engage with one another in a positive, or civil, manner.

Reflecting on 2023

December 22, 2023

As 2023 wraps up, we’d like to take some time to reflect on the past 12 months. It was a busy year for us. We developed new courses—like The Working Mind—launched new initiatives—such as 12 Months of Safety—and most importantly, we had some amazing opportunities to connect with you.

We were fortunate to meet and celebrate with over 500 of you during October’s Hearts and Hands conferences. At Safety Den, we showcased ideas and innovations from three fantastic organizations: The Gardens at Qualicum Beach, Eden Gardens, and Sienna Senior Living. Hosting our first Leadership Forum gave us an opportunity to connect with managers and leaders in the sector. Seeing your passion for your work is incredibly motivating and serves as a reminder for why we do what we do.

We are your health and safety association. We are dedicated to addressing the challenges you face in your workplace. Whether that’s through new mental health resources such as the Civility Matters Toolkit and the Care2Listen podcast, continuing initiatives like Support Services Appreciation Day, or giving direct support through our Tailored Outreach Program (TOP), know that we’re here for you.

As we enter 2024, we will continue our mission to support safe and injury-free workplaces. We have some exciting new projects in the works, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Happy holidays from the SafeCare BC team. We wish you health, happiness, and a happy new year. For more on what we accomplished this year, check out the video below.
