Motor vehicle incidents are among the leading causes of traumatic workplace injuries and fatalities in BC. The Safe Driving for Work Checklist has been developed to help employers and their workers take proactive steps to manage driving-related risks. This checklist serves as a practical guide to reinforce safe driving practices and is designed to be used before, during, and after each trip.

In long-term care it is increasingly apparent that who is on shift is just as important as how many staff are on shift. Quality care is difficult to achieve when we do not routinely engage with one another in a positive, or civil, manner.

Honouring Jerry Hatud - The Three Links Care Society

June 25, 2025

Support Services Day would not be complete without celebrating the dedication and heart of our Maintenance Team – whether it’s a full crew or just one hardworking individual holding it all together. Today, we shine a well-deserved spotlight on Jerry Hatud, a cornerstone of our Three Links family for the past 25 years.

Jerry has been an integral part of the Maintenance Department and now serves as the Maintenance Supervisor. But titles don’t fully capture the essence of Jerry. On the janitor’s day off, he willingly steps in to handle janitorial duties without hesitation. Whether it’s fixing a leak, setting up a room, or helping with unexpected tasks, Jerry never blinks an eye, just gets it done.

Through every challenge, Jerry has stood tall, never seeking recognition, always ensuring that the comfort and dignity of our residents come first. Even when the Director of Support Services wasn’t present, Jerry quietly ensured that everything ran smoothly. He consistently goes above and beyond—not because he’s asked to, but because he cares deeply.

All our cognitively aware residents know Jerry by name, and it’s no surprise why. If a resident comes to the dining room hungry and Jerry is the only one around, he will personally get them something to eat. On his days off, you might still find him assembling furniture for a resident who needed a hand. He’s not just part of the team—he's part of their lives.

Jerry lives by a simple yet powerful motto:
"I work here because of the residents. I want to make them feel comfortable and at home. Even though it’s not part of my job, I like to greet residents when I see them so that we don’t feel like strangers. It only takes 30 seconds for me to put a smile on their face, and it means a lot to me."

This mindset is what makes Jerry extraordinary. He has been the strongest pillar of our Maintenance Department, year after year. From quietly fixing what's broken to proudly grilling at the Nurses’ Week BBQ, Jerry is everywhere—and always with a humble heart and a willing hand.

Working alongside Jerry this past year has been nothing short of an immense pleasure. Today, we honour not just his service, but his spirit. Thank you, Jerry, for all that you are and all that you do.

You make Three Links a true home.
