Workplace conflicts are inevitable, when people with diverse experiences, communication styles, and expectations come together to pursue shared goals, tension is bound to arise. These conflicts may show up as disagreements, misunderstandings, or open disputes, and if left unaddressed, they can escalate and negatively impact team culture and performance.

In this three-hour interactive and hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the underlying causes of workplace conflict and learn how to manage them using a psychological health and safety framework. Through real-life scenarios, guided activities, and breakout room discussions, you’ll gain practical tools for addressing conflict early, effectively, and with a trauma-informed lens. Through reflection exercises you will build personalized strategies that support healthier, more resilient teams.

Designed for team leaders, HR professionals, managers, and anyone looking to improve their conflict management skills, this workshop blends insight with action to help you feel more confident navigating workplace challenges.

What you’ll learn:

  • Identify key drivers of workplace conflict and recognize early warning signs in real-world scenarios
  • Explain how psychological health and safety principles contribute to effective conflict resolution
  • Analyze the role of trauma-informed approaches in managing interpersonal workplace challenges
  • Apply practical conflict-resolution tools and frameworks to common workplace situations

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Recognize and respond to conflict more effectively in your role
  • Practice applying at least two conflict-resolution tools during the session
  • Apply the tools and strategies explored in the workshop to develop an actionable plan for fostering a psychologically safe and healthier team culture in your workplace
  • Build confidence in navigating interpersonal challenges through experiential learning

Presented by

Geoff Moffett is a Workplace Mental Health Facilitator for the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division -Victoria Office. He believes in ending the stigma around something we all have and live with, our mental health. His employment journey has taken him through different employment situations, where the importance of mental wellness was pivotal to success. He has held various positions working with traditionally marginalized populations, while working within Government, non-profit, unionized, and private industry. He uses humour when referencing his lived experience, while creating a supportive environment for discussions on mental health. Geoff is an award-winning basketball coach, having coached for over 20 years. He coaches at the high school level and runs a youth basketball program in Victoria.
