In long-term care it is increasingly apparent that who is on shift is just as important as how many staff are on shift. Quality care is difficult to achieve when we do not routinely engage with one another in a positive, or civil, manner.

Building resilience through core values

This session explores the power of purpose as our internal compass, especially in today’s complex and fast-paced work environment. Participants will reflect on their core values—the building blocks that shape who they are—and learn how these values define a deeper sense of purpose. We’ll revisit key mental health and resilience concepts, including the continuum of mental health and the filters we use to interpret stress. Building on that foundation, we’ll introduce strategies that develop “mental muscle” such as: By aligning with our core values and anchoring to a strong sense of purpose, we become more resilient, motivated, and fulfilled—both personally and professionally. When purpose becomes our North Star, we navigate challenges with greater clarity and remain true to who we are, even when the path ahead is uncertain.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the connection between core values, purpose, and personal resilience.
  • Identify and articulate individual core values as the foundation for purpose.
  • Recognize purpose as a guiding force that enhances well-being and workplace fulfillment.
  • Explore mental health as a continuum and apply resilience strategies to support emotional regulation and clarity.
  • Build “mental muscle” through practical tools such as noticing internal signals, managing expectations, challenging irrational thinking, and reframing difficult situations.

Her approach blends empathy, truth, and accountability, offering not quick fixes, but meaningful tools and space for real conversations. From pioneering the role of Wellness Manager before it was mainstream to delivering mental health workshops for hundreds of leaders, she has witnessed the power of mindset shifts to reduce burnout, build trust, and reconnect people with their purpose. Outside of her professional life, she trains alongside her sons, a practice that has grown into both a personal passion and a business. As a certified personal trainer, she integrates physical strength with mental resilience to support well-being at every level. Whether coaching a new leader, developing workplace wellness strategies, or helping someone navigate difficult decisions, she shows up grounded, honest, and focused on what truly matters—because while life can be complex, with the right support, it can also be transformative.
