Motor vehicle incidents are among the leading causes of traumatic workplace injuries and fatalities in BC. The Safe Driving for Work Checklist has been developed to help employers and their workers take proactive steps to manage driving-related risks. This checklist serves as a practical guide to reinforce safe driving practices and is designed to be used before, during, and after each trip.

In long-term care it is increasingly apparent that who is on shift is just as important as how many staff are on shift. Quality care is difficult to achieve when we do not routinely engage with one another in a positive, or civil, manner.

Join our board - Home and community care frontline worker

June 4, 2025

We are currently recruiting for a front-line worker position in home and community care, someone who comes with a passion for creating safer workplaces. This elected position is open to individuals who are:

  • Actively employed as a front-line worker
  • ✅ Working in an Association member home care and support services organization

Board expectations include:

  • Be Present and Engaged:
Your voice matters. Directors are expected to attend and contribute to all Board meetings. We value your insight and need your participation to support thoughtful, effective decision-making.
  • Attend In-Person When Possible:
Board meetings are planned as face-to-face gatherings. A virtual option is available if needed, but in-person attendance is strongly encouraged. The board meets approximately 8 times per year for 4 hours, with one meeting taking place as a full-day session for strategic planning.
  • Respect the Flow of Meetings:
Arriving on time and staying for the full duration helps keep meetings focused and productive. Arriving late or leaving mid-way through can disrupt the group’s work.
  • Notify Us if You Can’t Attend:
If you’re unable to attend a meeting (or part of it), please let the Chair or SafeCare BC staff know in writing at least 72 hours in advance when possible. This helps ensure we maintain quorum.
  • Maintain Good Attendance:
Directors are expected to attend at least 50% of Board meetings. Missing three consecutive meetings may result in being asked to resign. Attendance is reviewed annually and considered before renewing Board terms.

Nominations are open until June 20.

To apply, fill in this nomination form and send it to board@safecarebc.ca
