2024-2025 respiratory season declared over

March 28, 2025
BC has declared the 2024-2025 respiratory illness season officially over.

March 28–Today, the Province declared the 2024-2025 respiratory illness season officially over. Continuous medical masking by healthcare workers, visitors, contractors, and volunteers is no longer required in patient care areas in healthcare facilities, programs, and services.

What this means for you:

  • Enhanced respiratory measures (such as universal masking) are no longer mandated.
  • Standard infection prevention and control (IPC) practices remain in place.
  • Organizations are encouraged to maintain ongoing vigilance and support staff in practicing good hand hygiene, staying home when sick, and following routine protocols to prevent the spread of viruses.

The standard that requires the use of personal protective equipment and additional precautions based on point-of-care risk assessment remains in place.
