Leading through uncertainty

In this session, you’ll be introduced to the 3C Model (Catch on, Consider, Create), a simple framework to help you pause, process, and respond with intention.

Making decisions is part of the job. Making them clearly and confidently under pressure is the challenge.

In this session, Dr. Caroline Brookfield draws on 30 years of high-stakes clinical experience to share a practical approach to leading through uncertainty. You’ll be introduced to the 3C Model (Catch on, Consider, Create), a simple framework to help you pause, process, and respond with intention.

You’ll also learn how uncertainty affects the brain and decision-making, and how to build your team’s tolerance for ambiguity without adding more pressure. This session is for healthcare leaders who want to support their teams, reduce burnout, and make steady, thoughtful decisions even in high-pressure moments.

Objectives:

  1. Understand how uncertainty affects thinking, decision-making, and team dynamics.
  2. Learn how to use the 3C Model (Catch on, Consider, Create) in real situations.
  3. Implement habits to build Tolerance of Ambiguity (TOA), reducing change-exhaustion and increasing psychological safety.
