Position overview

The Learning and Development Coordinator is an entry-level role that supports the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of SafeCare BC’s education programs. Working closely with the Learning and Development Manager and the broader education and events team, this role contributes to the development of engaging learning experiences that meet the needs of the continuing care sector.

The role offers opportunities to support in-person and virtual events, facilitate learning sessions, and engage directly with frontline health care workers across the province.

This role is well-suited for individuals early in their learning and development career who are looking to build foundational skills across instructional design, LMS administration, and facilitation.

  • Is motivated by creating practical, meaningful learning experiences for people working in various health care roles

Key responsibilities

Learning content development and support

  • Support the development of microlearning and safety huddles
  • Assist in updating and enhancing existing courses based on learner feedback and evaluation data
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to incorporate leading practices and current evidence into learning materials
  • Ensure content is clear, engaging, and aligned with adult learning principles
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of learning materials

Learning management system support

  • Act as LMS super-user for SafeCare BC’s learning management system (LMS), supporting course setup, updates, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain course content, user records, and reporting within the LMS
  • Support internal teams and external users with LMS-related inquiries
  • Monitor course participation and completion data to support evaluation and reporting

Program and course delivery

  • Support the development of engaging courses that are relevant and timely
  • Develop materials to enhance the delivery of courses for facilitators
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions (occasional and dependent on aptitude and experience)

Event support and member engagement

  • Support planning and delivery of events
  • Attend onsite member events to support education delivery and engagement
  • Engage with frontline health care assistants and other workers to promote learning opportunities
  • Gather feedback from participants to inform continuous improvement

Continuous improvement and collaboration

  • Support evaluation activities, including surveys and feedback analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve learning experiences and processes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align education initiatives with organizational priorities
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment

Experience

  • Some experience in learning and development, education, training, or a related field (co-op or internship experience considered)
  • Experience working with learning management systems is an asset
  • Experience developing or supporting training materials is an asset
  • Experience working with frontline staff or in health care, social services, or a related sector is an asset
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary studies in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable using digital tools and learning technologies
  • Interest in adult learning, workplace health and safety, and program development
