Changes to emergency planning for chemical and biological agents

January 24, 2024

Amendments to WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Part 5: Chemical Agents and Biological Agents – Emergency Planning will be effective between May and June 2024.

Read a full summary of the changes. Highlights include:

  • The obligation to prepare an inventory of hazardous drugs was amended to “prepare and maintain” to ensure it is kept up to date.
  • Evaluation of Safety Data Sheets will be added to the risk assessment process.
  • Assigned roles and responsibilities will be required for emergency planning.
