How do you find the strength and courage to show up wholeheartedly when life is constantly presenting you with new challenges? How do you stay connected to the bigger picture so you can create the positive impacts you wish to make? These are questions we’ve all asked ourselves. Peter is going to help us answer them and motivate us to stay on our path wholeheartedly, while also being open to change and embracing the unexpected along the way.

Caring for You, Caring for Others: Creating Safer, Healthier Workplaces Together 

This fun and interactive session will help you explore the connection between physical safety and psychological well-being. Through storytelling and discussion, you can reflect on your own experiences and learn from others. Themes covered include the real impact of the work you do, psychological health and safety on the floor, and everyday safety: body, mind, and team. You’ll learn to reduce the risk of injury, minimize stress, and get easy strategies and resources you can use right away. Anna believes health and safety is not a checklist or compliance task, it’s about protecting people, not just physically but also psychologically.

My Name Is Myrna—and I Have Dementia

Join us for a powerful and deeply human conversation with Myrna Norman, who lives with dementia and Ania Landy, whose current PhD studies explore how older adults can have an active role in guiding their care. This isn’t your typical talk. It’s a unique opportunity to hear directly from someone living with dementia about the real impact of care—both the moments that uplift and those that unintentionally hurt. You’ll gain insight into what it means to be truly seen and supported. Together, Myrna and Ania will unpack how small choices—tone, pace, or offering a simple “Would you like…?”—can shape a person’s sense of dignity and meaning. This session is structured, heartfelt, and interactive. Bring your questions and step into a safe, respectful space where there’s no judgment—only learning, reflection, and inspiration.

Managing Stress and Building Emotional Resilience 

Healthcare assistants care deeply for others—often in high-pressure, emotionally demanding situations. This practical and supportive session is designed just for you. You'll explore simple, effective ways to manage stress, stay emotionally steady, and take care of yourself while caring for others. Learn how to identify and work through tough emotions instead of carrying them home and discover tools that will assist you to shift your mindset to help you feel more in control, even on the hardest days. Walk away with real-life strategies to build resilience, prevent burnout, and find moments of calm—so you can keep doing the work you love without losing yourself in the process.

Jennifer Roach is a Positive Approach to Dementia Care certified independent trainer and a clinical consultant with Arjo. Using Teepa Snow’s trademarked method to assess, connect, and get started on an action in a positive and person-centred way, Jennifer will show us how to use the skills and abilities the person living with dementia has left to help them with their activities of daily living.
