Breakout Session
My Name Is Myrna—and I Have Dementia
2025, Nanaimo 2025

October 15 @ 10:30am to 11:45am

Join us for a powerful and deeply human conversation with Myrna Norman, who lives with dementia and Ania Landy, whose current PhD studies explore how older adults can have an active role in guiding their care. This isn’t your typical talk. It’s a unique opportunity to hear directly from someone living with dementia about the real impact of care—both the moments that uplift and those that unintentionally hurt. You’ll gain insight into what it means to be truly seen and supported. Together, Myrna and Ania will unpack how small choices—tone, pace, or offering a simple “Would you like…?”—can shape a person’s sense of dignity and meaning. This session is structured, heartfelt, and interactive. Bring your questions and step into a safe, respectful space where there’s no judgment—only learning, reflection, and inspiration.
