SafeCare Wraps Up 2016 Be Care Aware Campaign

In September, SafeCare BC launched our 3rd Annual province-wide Be Care Aware campaign to promote safer workplaces and encourage collaboration in the long-term care sector. This year, we extended the campaign from a one-day event to an extended series of activities that included the active participation of SafeCare BC members across BC, dialogue about injury-free workplaces and more awareness about the rates and impact of injuries in the continuing care sector.

The 2016 Be Care Aware campaign was launched in September with the release of WorkSafeBC’s 2015 workplace injury statistics for the long-term care and home support sectors. Among other things, the data demonstrated long-term care injury rates are slightly declining while home support rates are increasing.

We have maintained a link on the website to the Be Care Aware kits so you can continue to order your safety products throughout the year at no change. We expect to add more multilingual SafeCare BC materials in New Year.

Thanks again for all the work you are doing to raise awareness of workplace safety in our sector. Together, we made a lot of progress in 2016 and we look forward to more success in 2017 as we welcome home support providers to the SafeCare BC team.
